Suspicious Circumstances Around Man's Disappearance

October 19, 2007 - Garland, Texas -- Garland Police Detectives are working on the Missing Person’s case of Garland resident Michael Allen Giles.  Michael, who is 48 years old and retired from the military, has not been seen by his family since June of last year.  In July of 2006 his sister went by his house in North Garland at 5205 Wood Creek Lane to check on him.  There she found his furniture gone and a “For Lease” sign on the door.  She attempted to call him on his cell phone and there was no answer.  However, after the phone call she received a text message, that stated he was OK and needed some time away.  For the next several months his sister received several e-mails from him and then they stopped.  His house payments were no longer being made and Mr. Giles home ended up in foreclosure.

Since being reported, detectives have continued to gather information on Mr.Giles and his disappearance.  That information has led police to the back yard of the house at 5205 Wood Creek Lane today.  They are removing a small concrete pad, believed to have been poured after Mr. Giles’ disappearance, and are forensically excavating the area with the possibility there may be a body buried there in the back yard.
