Update – Police have now identified the 2nd man found shot to death this morning. He is 26 year old Stephen Swan of Carrolton. Swan was an employee at Matthew Butler’s recording studio, Zion Gate. Police are now looking for Swan’s car that is missing. It is a 1995 Ford – Crown Victoria, tan in color, with Texas license S05VCD. If anyone sees this car they are asked to call Police immediately.
June 19, 2008 - Garland, TX -- Garland Police are working on a double homicide that occurred in the downtown area of Garland. Police were first notified by Garland Fire fighters around 1:20 am of a man that had come to the Central Fire Station reporting he had just seen two men lying in the 800 block of State Street who appeared to be dead. Police and Fire personnel responded to the location and found two men lying just off the roadway in the parking area in front of the businesses in the 800 block of State Street which is just west of Glenbrook Drive.
It appeared that both men had been shot several times and paramedics found no signs of life with either man. One of the men has been identified as 28 year old Matthew Butler. Butler is the owner of the business at 810 State Street, Zion Gate, a recording studio. The other man, who also appears to be in his 20’s, has not been positively identified at this time.
Police believe the slayings took place where the body’s were found and at this time are working on a possible motive for the shootings along with trying to identify any suspects in the case.
