Garland Police Officer Memorial

 

 

Officer Gerald Walker was a 17-year veteran of the Garland Police Department and the first  Garland Police Officer to die in the line of duty.  Officer Walker was assigned to the Patrol Division and was conducting a traffic stop on the night of November 15, 1989 on Lexington Drive and Saturn Road.  The driver of the stopped vehicle shot and killed Officer Walker.  The man responsible Officer Walker's death was arrested a short time later.  

 

 

Officer Michael David Moore was a 10-year veteran of the Garland Police Department and assigned to the Patrol Division when he died in the line of duty.  On the morning of February 15, 1997, Officer Moore interrupted a bank robbery on Centerville Road near IH 635.  Officer Moore was shot several times and later died.  The man responsible for Officer Moore's death was captured at the scene. 

 

 

Officer Ronnie Lerma was an 11-year veteran of the Garland Police Department and assigned to the Traffic Division when he died in the line of duty.  Officer Lerma had stopped a traffic violator on the morning of September 21, 1998 on IH 635 near Centerville Road.  A passing motorist struck Officer Lerma along with the stopped vehicle .  Officer Lerma died at the accident scene.  The man responsible for Officer Lerma's death was arrested.
