Garland, Texas - January 30, 3008 -- Garland Police responded to the 2000 block of West Shore, just before 4:00 pm yesterday, on the report of a man being shot.  When Police arrived they found 82 year old Charles Tipton lying on the floor inside his residence and suffering from at least one gunshot wound.  Tipton was transported to Baylor Hospital of Garland where he later died.  While at the residence Police took 55 year old Terry Barnett, the step-daughter of Tipton, into custody for the shooting.  Today detectives are continuing their investigation in an effort to try and figure out what lead up to the shooting.  Terry Barnett is currently being held in the Garland Jail on a charge of murder.  Bond has been set at $500,000.
