Update: January 23, 2008 -- Kidnapping/Robbery Suspects Idendified - Garland Police have identified three men believed to be responsible for the early morning kidnapping and robbery of a grandmother and her 3 year old grandson on January 10th.
Police have arrested 20 year old David Burnley, 23 year old Roy Pate, and have a warrant for 23 year old Jackie Matlock. Burnley and Pate have been charged with Aggravated Kidnapping, a 1st Degree Felony. The 3rd suspect, Jackie Matlock of Dallas has a warrant for his arrest for Aggravated Kidnapping.
The kidnapping and robbery began in the 5100 block of Broadway Boulevard around 6:30 am on January 10th. The complainant, a 55 year old Garland woman, told police she was getting out of her vehicle when she was suddenly grabbed from behind by her hair. At the same time she saw a man getting into the passenger side of her vehicle where her three year old grandson was also located. She was then forced back into her vehicle and the men got inside with her and her grandson. They told her to do as they said and at that time she believed she heard the cocking of a gun. They forced her to drive to the Phillips 66 gas station located on the corner of Broadway and Oates. They took her debit card and demanded the PIN number. Burnely went inside the station to remove cash from a cash machine. He returned to the vehicle and they then had her drive back to the 5100 block of Broadway where they got out with her purse and left on foot. Neither the woman nor her grandson was physically injured.
Garland Police are still looking for and have a warrant for Aggravated Kidnapping on Jackie Matlock. Police are asking that if anyone has information on where Matlock may be to call the Garland Crime Stoppers TIPS line; 972-272-TIPS (4877).
