From January 1, 2007, through May 31, 2007, Garland Officers have arrested 261 people for Driving While Intoxicated. Beginning on June 29, 2007, Garland Police will be stepping up D.W.I. patrols even more in an effort to make holiday driving safer by removing drunk drivers from the roadways. The DWI-IDM, (Driving While Intoxicated-Impaired Driver Mobility) program is sponsored by TxDOT and paid for through their grant funding. The additional officers will begin the extra patrols on the evening of June 29, 2007, and will finish on July 4, 2007.
