Warrant Issued for Hit and Run Suspect

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

May 13, 2008 - Release 2008-20 -- Garland Police have identified a man they believe is responsible for the crash early last Tuesday morning that resulted in the death of 44 year old Tsigereda Kassaye of Garland.  Traffic Investigators have obtained an arrest warrant for 30 year old Juan Pedro Tobias of Garland.  They believe he is the man who was driving the 1999 Dodge Intrepid that caused the wreck just before 5:00 a.m. on May 6th at the intersections of Jupiter and Buckingham Roads.  According to witness accounts Tobias got out of his vehicle after the wreck and walked away from the scene.  Mrs. Kassaye was transported to Baylor Hospital of Garland where she died of her injuries.
 
The warrant for Juan Tobias is for Fail to Stop and Render Aid, a 3rd degree felony, punishable by 2-10 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. 
 
Garland Police are asking for the publics help in locating Tobias.  If anyone has information on Tobias’s whereabouts they are asked to call Garland Crime Stoppers, 972-272-8477.  Callers may remain anonymous.
