Beer Theft Turns into Robbery when Clerk is Run Over by Suspects

1 Suspect Identified in Beer Theft Turned Robbery when Clerk was Run Over Garland Police have identified one of the suspects in the beer theft turned robbery when a clerk was run over during the offense. Police have obtained an Aggravated Robbery warrant for 17 year old Clayton Lynn Payne. Payne, pictured above entered the store ahead of the second suspect. Police responded to the robbery just after 10:30 pm on February 11th at the Mobil station located in the 2500 block of Firewheel Parkway. Police were told the two suspects came into the station and one of them placed a can of beer under his shirt and left without paying. The female clerk followed the two outside where they got into a car described as a small dark blue 4 door, possibly a Ford Escort, with a paper buyers tag. As they began to drive away the car struck the clerk knocking her to the ground and running over her leg. The clerk suffered a broken leg and had to undergo surgery the next day. She has since been released from the hospital and continues to recover. Garland Police are now actively looking for Clayton Payne. Detectives also have a name on the second suspect but are not releasing it at this time. February 12, 2008 - Garland Police are trying to identify two men, possibly in their late teens, who shoplifted beer and ended up running over the clerk as they made their getaway. Just after 10:30 p.m. Monday night Garland Police responded to a shoplifting turned robbery in the 2500 block of Firewheel Parkway at the Mobil station. The two, who are pictured below, came into the station and one of the men placed a can of beer under his shirt and left without paying. When the female clerk followed them outside they got into a vehicle described as a small dark blue 4 door, possibly a Ford Escort, with a paper buyers tag. As they began to drive away the car struck the clerk knocking her to the ground and running over her leg. The female clerk was taken to Baylor Hospital of Plano in stable condition and suffering from a broken leg. Garland Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying these two men.
