Gang Members Arrested for Robbery

On July 25, 2007, just after 1:00 am, Garland Police were responding to a disturbance at LV Billiards in the 2900 block of Beltline Road, when they received additional information that several people involved had pulled guns and were pointing them at people.  When the first officers arrived, they found that four males had robbed the pool hall, and hijacked a car from the parking lot.  One of the responding officers spotted the stolen car, a 1996 Mercury Cougar, run a red light at a nearby intersection.  He tried to stop the car and the driver began to flee.  Officers chased the Mercury over 15 minutes before it was ended by police deploying spikes, causing the tires to be flattened.  Two of the four hijackers, 21 year old Victor Maldonado and 19 year old Nathaniel Mease, were taken into custody from the stolen car.  The other two hijackers had fled the original scene in another vehicle and police began searching for them.  Officers from Garland’s Gang Unit spotted the remaining two suspects in a vehicle around 7:30 am this morning; they were stopped and taken into custody without incident.  They were identified as 18 year old Nelson Ponce and a 16 year old male, whose name can not be released because of being a juvenile.

All four are facing charges of Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Assault Deadly Weapon, Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity and Maldonado has an additional charge of Evading Detention-Vehicle.
