Murder Suspect Arrested

Allan Hau Hyunh

On Sunday morning, May 13, 2007, just after 1:30 am, Garland Police responded to a disturbance call in the parking lot of the 4500 block of West Walnut.  When they arrived, there were only a few people in the area who stated a large group of men had just been there causing a disturbance. The disturbance had turned into a fight and, during the fight, one man had pulled a gun and shot another man.  Witnesses stated the wounded man was loaded into a private car and driven away.  A short time later, police received a call from Baylor Hospital of Garland stating they had just received a male gunshot victim by the name of Tung Van Nguyen.  Police learned that Nguyen was the same man who had been shot on Walnut.  Tung Van Nguyen, 28 years old of Dallas, later died of his gunshot wound.  Garland police detectives worked several days in an effort to identify the man responsible for the shooting death of Nguyen.  On May 18, 2007, detectives obtained a murder warrant for 31 year old Allan Hau Huynh of Garland, the man identified as being responsible for shooting Tung Van Nguyen.  Police went to arrest Huynh only to find out he had fled the country to Vietnam two days earlier on May 16, 2007.  A U.S. Borders watch was placed on Huynh to notify police of when he was coming back into the U.S.  This morning Garland Police were notified that Allan Hau Huynh was flying into DFW airport from Japan today.  Huynh was taken into custody at the airport without incident.  He is currently being held in the Garland Jail for the murder of Tung Van Nguyen.  Bond has is set at $500,000.
