The Domestic Investigations and Sex Crimes Unit, commonly referred to as the DISC Unit, specializes in the investigation of domestic or family violence-related offenses, as well as all adult sexual assault offenses. This unit is an investigative arm of the Crimes Against Persons (CAPERS) Unit. The investigators assigned to this unit receive special training in family violence issues and seek to reduce repeat incidents of family violence by appropriate law enforcement intervention. These investigators frequently assist family members in obtaining protective orders and other assistance, as required. The unit works very closely with the Crime Victims' Advocate.
Domestic Violence Awareness Month is in October and there are many resources available. For more information click here.
